Daniel Kniffens was one of the first settlers in what is now Macomb Township, Michigan. He arrived in the early 1830s and purchased land on the Middle Branch of the Clinton River. Kniffens' land became known as the Village of Macomb Corners and is located at the intersection of present-day 25 Mile and Romeo Plank Roads. Following his arrival, the fertile soil and flat landscape attracted many German farmers who quickly set up farms here.
Today, Macomb Township retains many of its German influences thanks to settlers like Daniel Kniffens. The township's flat land and abundant resources continue to attract new residents, making it one of the fastest-growing communities in Michigan. Residents here enjoy fun community amenities such as the Macomb Township Recreation Center, and Macomb Corners Park. Education centers for Macomb Township include Chippewa Valley Schools, L'Anse Creuse Schools, New Haven Schools, and Utica Community Schools.
